HBC has Chosen South Africa For Their Aircraft Sales Expansion Plans Due to Its Fastest Growth In Aviation Industry In The African Continent

Hawker Beech craft Corporation (HBC) has identified the South Africa commercial environment as offering some of the best growth prospects of any country in the world, saying that there are two key reasons for this identification.

The first reason is South Africa's potential to become one of the world's fastest developing countries and the second is its role as "gatekeeper" to the rest of Africa.

"As the country and the continent develop, demand for business aircraft will grow dramatically to provide access to remote parts of the region, cover vast distances and also help counter the limitations of the transportation infrastructure ,which is underdeveloped compared with other parts of the world," said Sean McGeough,HBC president,Europe,Middle East & Africa.

"Road and rail networks in many parts of Africa are limited making travel internally a challenge .Traveling by business aircraft is, therefore, not only often the quickest way to travel, but sometimes the only option."

As part of its growing focus on Africa, Hawker Beech craft also announced that it had appointed Lanseria International Airport-based Absolute Aviation as an exclusive Beech craft dealer for Sub-Saharan Africa. Neil Howard is the company's CEO.

McGeough said of the new dealer in an interview with World Airnews:" Absolute Aviation has considerable experience in aircraft Sales, Maintenance and operations. Absolute Aviation offers a unique aviation consulting service to companies' ore individuals wishing to acquire and operate an aircraft, or for existing aircraft owners requiring a turnkey operational management service.

South Africa's Case

The recent invitation received by South Africa to join a conference hosted by Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) was just the latest example of South Africa's economic growth. The country had abundant natural resources, a sophisticated private sector, well developed capital markets, a strong business aviation community and a free and vibrant media, he said.

All of this helped to explain why South Africa was predicted to have the seventh fastest growing economy in the World between now and 2050.

Additionally, South Africa was an ideal platform for economic development into the rest of Africa with a strong aviation industry, plus quality air traffic control services, aviation facilities and airports, McGeough added.

"The importance of South Africa to the business aviation market in Africa is reflected in our analysis of industry data, which suggests that just over 50% of business turbine aircraft in the continent, are in South Africa," McGeough said."Similarly, 47% of the business jet market is in South Africa, and approximately 55% of business turboprops. We expect this market dominance to increase as South Africa plays a leading role in the development of Africa as a whole.

Africa As A Continent

HBCs assessment of Africa includes the fact that the continent is fast becoming a priority investment destination as it increasingly opens its doors to foreign investors. Between 2000 and 2007, foreign capital flows into Africa increased from $15-billion to $87-billion.

With a population approaching one-billion people, Africa represents a huge market and one that is rich in largely untapped mineral and natural resources.

In the last two years consumer companies, including Wal-Mart and Vodafone, have sought to gain a foothold in Africa through large acquisitions.

Intra-African trade is also increasing, particularly from South African companies such as FirstRand, the second largest financial services company in Africa, which has announced plans to expand into Nigeria, Tanzania, Angola, Ghana and Kenya.

More generally, trade barriers are increasingly being addressed to encourage intra-African trade and economic integration on the continent appears poised to increase.

The International Monetary Fund(IMF) forecasts that seven of the top 10 fastest growing economies in the next 10 years will be in Africa, and Standard Chartered forecasts  Africa's economy to grow at an average annual rate of seven percent over the next 20 years ,marginally faster than Chinas.

HBC In Africa

The company's announcement regarding Absolute Aviation is intended to enhance Beechcarft sales in Africa. Neil Howard and his team of professionals at Absolute Aviation have considerable experience in aircraft sales, maintenance and operations.

HBC pointed out that last year HBC strengthened its African operations by adding global customer support facilities in Lagos, Nigeria, and in Johannesburg and Cape Town, in South Africa. These strategically –placed centre's allow Africa business travelers to enjoy unprecedented access to Hawker Beech craft services.

"Africa represents a great opportunity for us as a travel around the continent is becoming increasingly important," said McGeough."We have already seen strong interest in our aircraft from a number of organizations, including multi-nationals based there. In 20110, for example, we accounted for half of all business turbine aircraft sales in Africa and we are confident we will maintain our position as a market leader here."

HBCs King air models are particularly popular in Africa as a result of their durability, reliability, fuel-efficiency and the ability to operate almost anywhere. The new King Air 250 has a maximum range of 1610 nautical miles and can take off in only 644 metres from a sea level airport, making it an ideal choice of transportation for corporate executives traveling throughout Africa.

McGeough told Worlds Air news in the interview that he expected the first King Air 250 to make its debut in Africa around September this year, or "earlier if possible."

HBC Accelerates 400XPR Certification Programme

Hawker Beech craft Global Customer Support (GCS) is accelerating the Hawker 400XPR development programme by adding a second aircraft to the test programme. This aircraft will be used primarily to develop and certify various avionics upgrade options.

"This additional aircraft allows us to engineer the programmes optional avionics upgrade concurrently with the Williams International FJ44-4A engine integration," said Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beech craft vice president, GSC."This will keep the momentum going on the certification."

A number of variations of Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics are planned for the Hawker 400XPR .Customers can choose a baseline three-display system or a more advanced four-display system, along with other enhancements to meet their operational needs.

The  Hawker 400XPR three-display avionics system is expected to be certified within  the next few months at which time it will be available to all Beech jet 400A and Hawker 400XP aircraft as a stand alone upgrade. Additional 400XPR avionics variations and options will follow.

All aspects of 400XPR aerodynamics, avionics and propulsion will be incorporated into the company's interactive maintenance library and will be fully supported by its 1000-employee-strong GCS organization.

The Hawker 400XPR, which is expected to receive certification in 2012, offers greatly improved range and airfield performance, while reducing noise footprint and emissions by replacing the existing engines with new, more fuel-efficient Williams International FJ44-4A-32 dual FADEC high-bypass turbofans.

The upgrade also features the addition of genuine Hawker composite winglets and an optional modernized flight deck with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics.

What is the average aviation technician salary earnings now a days?

I'm attending my Airframe and Power plant classes presently with obtaining an AAS Degree in Applied Science after i finish. Plus was thinking about going back to school after i am done with A and P to complete the Avionics course that the school offers as well. So total is about a little under 2.5 yrs of schooling. Plus i have 10 years total of Aircraft exp both Mfg and inspection.

you will probably topout at about $30 an hour after ten years with a commercial airline. You will make slightly less with a Biz Jet corp and about half or less at the general aviation level.
