Matching microphone impedance for a transceiver.?
I have an Icom transciever (IC-2200h) which reports the normal microhones impedance is 2.2 kohm. I would like to use a microphone (from an aviation headset (light speed zulu)) with a "termination impedance" of 400 ohms. What do I do electrical engineers?
I already know it functions well with a capacitor in line but I want to do it legit.
Two alternatives. 1. Use a transistor interstage transformer with a 5:1 primary/secondary turns ratio (the input transformer to the push pull output stage on an old transistor radio will do) or, with the downside of having to supply volts and additional complexity, use a common base input transistor pre-amp which is low impedance input and medium to high impedance out such as the 200-600Ω in, 2.2KΩ out, circuit at http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/Circuits/Audio/dyn_mic/dyn_mic.htm.
